Progressive metal band consists of John Petrucci (guitar), John Myung (bass), James LaBrie (vocals) and Jordan Rudess (keyboards) finally decided to replace their latest drummer Mike Portnoy.
After holding auditions seven world-class drummer, Dream Theater announced if their choice fell to Mike Mangini, renowned drummer who had walked with Anihilator and Steve Vai.
Mangini managed to beat the finalists such as Thomas Lang (Glenn Hughes), Virgil Donati (Planet X), Marco Minnemann (Creator), Derek Roddy (Malevolent Creation), Peter Wildoer (Darkane) and Aquiles Priester (Angra).
"On the day I got a call to join Dream Theater, it took three meit advance to digest what was happening. And when noticed, feeling relieved that finally came. It is very meaningful to me, "said Mangini.
