Planet Parade Followed by Fireworks Festival Of Meteor Eta Aquarids

Alignment of six planets in a straight line in early May 2011 will be an interesting scene at dawn. Moreover, the events will occur simultaneously with a large meteor shower that originates from the constellation Aquarius. Planet parade will be followed by fireworks in the sky.


Astronomy researcher from Institute of Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN), Thomas Djamaluddin, said Eta Aquarids meteor shower will occur in early May. At the peak, there were 60 shooting stars per hour. "Top of the meteor shower occurs on May 6, 2011 starting at 3:00 pm," he said.

Meteor showers happen when comet dust enter the Earth's atmosphere. Dust then bergesekkan with air to burn and produce light. Eta Aquarids meteor shower comes from the rest of the visit of Halley's comet dust sun once every 76 years.

As meteor showers, constellation Aquarius in the southeastern sky. Meanwhile, in the eastern region, four bright stars will be lined up to form a single line. The result, in the eastern sky we could see two rare phenomena as well as the parade of planets and a meteor shower. "The show looks beautiful until sunrise."

The four bright planets, namely Venus, Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter, is above the horizon since at 4:50 pm. Meanwhile, the two planets are much fainter, that Uranus and Neptune have been published since the early days.
